Shinan Chunil Salt Won KB League

After a year of hard games and a roller coaster position during the leagues, Team Shinan Chunil Salt successfully won the 2010 Koean Baduk League.

The winning team

Korean Baduk League is a team tournament. Each team consists of 6 players, but only 5 were sent to play in every rounds. The tournament consists of 2 leagues before the final knock-down between 4 top teams started. The winning team gets 250,000,000 Won.

Shinan Chunil Salt's members are:
1. Lee Sedol (9 dan) Captain
2. Han Sanghoon (5 dan)
3. Lee Chunghyu (3 dan)
4. Lee Hobum (2 dan)
5. Park Siyeol (3 dan)
6. An Kukhyun (2 dan)

At the end of first league, Shinan Chunil Salt was placed 1st with 6-2 score, losing only to Yeongnam Ilbo and Chungkuk&Konkuk Milk. However, thing went downhill at the second league. This time, the team only scored 4-4 and dropped them to 5th place (non cumulative point). As a result, the team was dropped to 3rd at the final ranking.

The knock-down for this tournament is unusual. The team who was placed 1st at the final ranking is seeded to the final, the 2nd at the final ranking goes to semi-final, while the 3rd and 4th teams must start from the 1st round.

At the first round, Shinan Chunil Salt met Team Hite Jinro. After losing at the first game, they won the next 3 games and advanced to the semi-final.

Here is the game from the first round:
Lee Sedol (white) vs. Choi Cheolhan (black). Result: W+R

This year the final is not best of 3. Perhaps this change was done to lower the tournament cost.

Lee Sedol represented his team to hold the trophy.

Lee Sedol is the MVP of the tournament with an amazing 16-2 score. The second top scorer is Kang Yootaek with 13-3, followed by Kang Dongyun with 13-4.
