Team Senior Even the Score

After their defeat yesterday, senior team successfully even the score with a victory from Jeong Daesung (9 dan).

Kim Sunmi who played black again, sacrificed her upper right corner to get moyo at the upper board. However, white played a clever probe at L15 and things turned awkward for black.

Kim tried to cut Mr. Jeong's group but it turned out that she weakened her group at the upper board. Jeong Daesung later played brilliantly by putting a fight at the bottom right corner.



He sacrificed his earlier group at the upper side to win the ko fight. He was correct to sacrifice the group. Several moves later, he captured big black group at the bottom board.

Female Team Open the GG Auction Cup

The 4th GG Auction Cup started yesterday. As usual, 12 players from both Senior team and Female team will compete each other in a win and continue format.

This year, the female team open the tournament with a victory. Kim Sunmi (2 dan) won the first game from Na Jonghoon (6 dan) by a big 10.5 points margin.

The game opened with white early approach at move 3. Black abandoned it and went for the last empty corner. The game went with black taking the right side, maintaining a big influence, while white got black's upper right corner. Black attacked white's weak group at the bottom right, while letting his center group in danger. However, black managed to connect her groups at move 123. Perhaps white should connect at D8 instead of nobi.
