Round 1 Result: Japan Got Perfect Score

China was not the only country to get a perfect score at the first round of 2011 SportAccord World Mind Championship. Japan who took on U.S.A also got a perfect 5-0 and made a good start at the tournament.

The first board was a clash between Yamashita Keigo Honinbo Meijin and Jiang Mingjiu (7 pro). Yamashita played really well and after an acrobatic play, he killed white's group at the bottom left.

Yamashiro Hiroshi finally could smile after 319 moves as he won by 1/4 points (the Chinese counting is used in the tournament). However, the result showed that Li resigned instead of counting.

The last board was a match between Feng yun (9 pro) and Mukai Chiaki (4 pro). It was a game of chase and kill. Feng Yun overlooked black 121 and soon her group fell apart. I think she should play J7 instead of R8 at move 120 to defend her group.
