Yamashita Captures Honinbo

Yamashita Keigo repay his lost of Kisei title with capturing another top 3 title, Honinbo.

The fifth game was played on June 28-29 in Saitama. Hane ended day 1 with a sealing move.



The game went interestingly with both player taking big territory. In the end, Yamashita won the game.



This is the first Honinbo title for Yamashita. Congratulations Yamashita!!

Park Yeonghun in GS Galtex Semi-Final

Park Yeonghun became the first person to won the semi-final seat of the 15th GS Galtex Cup. He won by resignation over Kim Junghyun (2 dan). Park will play the winner between Heo Yeongho vs. Lee Younggu match.

What interesting from this game is the trade off between black's big group in the right upper corner with white's big group in the right bottom corner. Black was leading by small margin when white resigned.

Style Can Change

Have you ever felt that your playing style is changing in some ways? Perhaps you fight all along in the past, but now you're more territorial (well, it's the case for me.) or vice versa?

One Win to Honinbo

Yamashita Keigo is really close to Honinbo title with his victory over Hane Naoki yesterday. He won the fourth game of the 65th Honinbo title match by resignation.



He managed to kill white in the center after a big fight. With this, Yamashita only need one victory to capture the title.

A happy news came from Lee Changho. The Korean master announced his wedding. A press conference was held on Tuesday was held to confirm the marriage.

Michael Redmond Beat Cho U

Great news to all Westerner. The highest ranked Western professional, Michael Redmond (9dan) recently beat top Japanese title Master Cho U by 0.5 points in the first round of the 17th Agon Cup.

It seems that Michael is in a great shape this year. He managed to the second round of Tengen tournament early this year, but lost by 1.5 points to Yoda Norimoto.
