The 6th Prices Information Cup is down to the climax. The final game to decide who will be the 6th champion. This time, the finalist is the famous Lees. Lee Changho and Lee Sedol.

Samsung Cup Qualifiers

The Samsung Cup is back. The qualification tournaments for non seeded players were held from August 2-7. Players from South Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan are fighthing for 19 spots at the main round.

Two players Bounced Back

Two players at the 35th isei tournament League B bounced back to the league from their 0-2 condition.

The first player is Hane Naoki (Agon) who beat Iyama Yuta (Meijin) in a fighting game. The game was difficult with Iyama tried to save his invading stones most of the time. Hane won the game by resignation at move 125 when he killed Iyama's group at the bottom board.

The Meijin Challenger

The 35th Meijin league has ended. Last month, two players, Cho U and Takao Shinji, were tied for the first position. However, no tie break game is needed to determine the challenger, because one won his game while the other lost.

Takao Shinji (9 dan) won his game against Yuki Satoshi thus won the challenger's seat. Meanwhile, Cho lost his game against Ogata Masaki (9 dan).

Takao Shinji was Meijin title holder back in 2006. He beat Cho U that time by 4-2, but then Cho took the title back the following year with 4-3 score. This is Takao's second challenge for the title. Will he regain the Meijin? Or will Iyama Yuta defend his title? The first game will be played at September 1-2.

Let's take a look at a game from 1990. It was from the 28th Judan title match game 2.

Black was Takemiya Masaki, challenger and white was Cho Chikun Judan. You can see an interesting opening where both players played L-Stars combination (I don't know whether this formation has a name or not, but I call it like that XD) and Takemiya came with unusual moves, Black 9 and Black 11.

Computers' Fight

Let's take a look at a game from the 10th Tengen title match game 2. The players were 2 professionals who are known for their counting skill and so were nicknamed as the "Computer". Black was Ishida "Computer" Yoshio and white was Kataoka "New Computer" Satoshi.

Lee Changho at Prices Information Final

It seems that Lee Changho won't go anywhere in Korean's baduk world in near time, despite many challenges from younger players.

He proved himself once again by becoming the finalist of the 6th Prices Information Cup. Today, Lee defeated Choi Cheolhan (9 dan) to win the final's seat.

Lee who got black in the game played an interesting sequence to help his stones at the lower left. Another interesting sequence was played shortly. White invaded black's influence at move 84. Black handled the invasion well and white played a smart sacrifice to help the invasion.
